A Message from the Senior Vice Provost for Global Engagement About The Recent Presidential Proclamation Lifting the Travel Ban

On Jan. 20, 2021, the Biden administration issued a Presidential Proclamation ending Executive Order 13769, commonly known as the “travel ban” that limited immigrant and non-immigrant visa holders from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Libya and Yemen from entering the U.S.

As the Office of Global Engagement, we oversee global research, education and partnership efforts that tackle the grand challenges of our interconnected society. We – and NC State as a whole – value all of our international students, faculty and staff and their crucial contributions to the university and our surrounding communities.

The Office of International Services remains a valuable resource for our international student body and will advise new and future incoming students accordingly.

We welcome this positive news and hope to soon be welcoming more students, faculty and staff from all over the world again. However, current COVID-19 related travel restrictions do remain in place to keep everyone safe.

With sincere best wishes,

Bailian Li
Senior Vice Provost for Global Engagement
