Consortia

University networks that leverage multilateral collaboration, as well as promoting bilateral exchanges and program development among member institutions. Examples of global university consortia of which NC State is a part include the University Global Partnership Network and the Academic Consortium for the 21st Century. These complement and enhance collaborative activities among bilateral global partnerships.

University Global Partnership Network (UGPN)

Established in 2011, the University Global Partnership Network (UGPN) provides a distinctive and effective forum for engagement between the partner universities. The multilateral network facilitates sustainable collaboration in research, learning and teaching to address global challenges. The four leading universities united in delivering world class research and education through membership in the UGPN include the University of Surrey (UK), the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), the University of Wollongong (Australia) and North Carolina State University (USA).

Academic Consortium for the 21st Century (AC21)

The Academic Consortium for the 21st Century (AC21) was established on June 24, 2002, at the International Forum hosted by Nagoya University, Japan, as an international network of educational, research and industrial organizations throughout the world. Consisting of 15 institutions, the AC21 seeks to promote cooperation in education and research bridging between different societies in the world to share wisdom and knowledge on different cultures necessary for co-existence beyond national and regional boundaries. The AC21 Special Project Fund, as an example,  was created in order to bring together members of AC21 Universities to encourage new research opportunities, exchanges, and educational programs.
