Arts United: Fostering Equity and Inclusivity through Writing and Art

March 22, 2018 | 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Are you a creative person interested in building a more inclusive and positive campus climate at NC State? Join us as acclaimed poets (and NC State MFA alums) Tyree Daye and Leila Chatti join editor and graphic memoirist Kristen Radtke for Arts United, a generative workshop for members of the NC State community who want to open up dialogue about equity and inclusivity on campus. During the workshop, participants will talk about their experiences as NC State students and community members, and will hone their writing and drawing techniques in a supportive, collaborative three-hour workshop.

Poems, graphic memoirs, and poetry-visual art hybrids produced in the workshop will be exhibited at a follow-up gallery show on April 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Hunt Library’s Teaching and Visualization Lab. Because this is a collaborative workshop, students are encouraged (but not required) to register in artist-writer pairs. This free workshop is open to all NC State students and faculty and is sponsored by the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity.
