Join us for Dinner & a Movie: Turkish Edition!
We invite you to join us at Fountain Dining Hall to experience the flavors and cuisine of Turkey. After dinner, it’s a short walk to the Witherspoon Cinema for the screening of the Turkish Film Ayla: The Daughter of War, shown as part of the Global Film Series. This event is sponsored by NC State Global, NC State University Libraries, NC State Dining, and the Turkish Student Association.

While the film is free to attend, there is a cost to attend the dinner. Fountain Dining Hall is open to the public. Payment can be made via Cash or Credit, AllCampus/Dining Dollars, or payroll deduction. Participants are welcome to join us for only the film or both the film and dinner. No RSVP required.

Based on an astonishing true story, Ayla: The Daughter of War is a Turkish film set during the Korean War tells the story of Süleyman, a sergeant in the Turkish Brigade who risks his life to save a young girl. The two form a friendship despite the language barrier between them but are torn apart when Süleyman must return home. This film is shown in partnership with the Turkish Student Association. The film introduction and discussion will be led by Dr. Aydin Aysu, Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, College of Engineering at NC State University.

NR (some intense war scenes) – Korean, English, Turkish, and Chinese with English subtitles, 125-minute runtime.

This film is free and open to the public.
