See NC State students in all majors performing modern, hip-hop, urban-Latin, Bollywood and African diaspora dances in choreography by dance faculty, guest artists and students during their Fall Concerts in Stewart Theatre.

The concert’s highlight is a social justice piece “Agua Furiosa,” choreographed on NC State’s Panoramic Dance Project by Maria Alvarez of Contra-Tiempo, which will be presented at ACCelerate Festival in Washington, D.C., showcasing innovative university projects that combine art, science and humanities to address global challenges. The piece blends salsa, Afro-Cuban movement, hip-hop and other forms of contemporary dance.

The concert will also present a hybrid of hip-hop, house, modern and African diaspora dances “James” by Francine Ott and a blend of classical Indian and Western dance forms “Nakhre” choreographed by NC State alumna Neelam Patel, among other pieces. The fall concert features the two NC State’s academic dance companies –– the NCSU Dance Company and the Panoramic Dance Project –– as well as Independent Study in Dance class and Repertory piece students.

As one of the six programs of Arts NC State, since 1986 the Dance Program gives NC State students in any major the opportunity to study dance through performance and choreography.

Prices are $5 for NC State students; $8 for NC State faculty and staff, senior citizens and non-NC State students; and $10 for the general public. Free parking is available in the Coliseum Parking Deck after 5 p.m.
