The panel will discuss their summer experience conducting the New Literacies Teacher Leader Institute (NLI) in Kitale, Kenya with 60 teachers affiliated with the Hope Education Centre. The purpose of the trip was to support teachers in learning how to use technology in their classrooms and conduct inquiry-based teaching. The Kenyan government has created a policy that all schools must increase technology in the schools but resources are scarce in many of the rural areas. The team also conducted a day-camp for 350 children who came from the surrounding villages. The director of the Hope Education Centre, Peter Wanyonyi, will be joining the panel to share the impact of the NLI on the community. A light lunch will be served at the beginning of the event.
