The Spirit of Haiga: A Workshop and Gallery with Ion Codrescu

The NC Japan Center will be hosting Dr. Ion Codrescu, a renowned and celebrated haiku poet and “haiga” master, on Sunday, September 22nd, from 3 to 5:00 p.m. at the Spring Hill House. Haiga is a style of Japanese painting that is accompanied by a haiku poem.

Dr. Codrescu is a published author of 18 books in 8 countries, an accomplished artist, and holds an associate professorship at Ovidius University of Constantza, Romania. He will be visiting NC State as part of his North American tour, and he will be giving a presentation titled “Japanese Haiga and Western Artists,” geared for absolute beginners to haiga. There will also be a small gallery showcasing Ion’s various works.
