Understanding the Protected Class of National Origin

November 8, 2018 | 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

In this workshop, participants learn the definition of national origin and how it relates to ethnicity and culture. Participants also identify cross-cultural miscommunication and gain insights into foreign nationals experience in the United States. Participants in this session gain an understanding of culture, cultural awareness, and the relationship between assumptions, values, attitudes, and behaviors as they evaluate their own cultural values and learn tools for promoting positive interaction with foreign visitors.

In this workshop, you will learn definitions and legal facts about the protected class of national origin, explore the discrimination and the impact of treatment based on national origin, explore the conceptual framework, history, and impact of national origin, and develop strategies for applying new knowledge to personal and professional behaviors.
