Through the Office of Global Engagement, NC State faculty and staff enjoy access to a number of international research and funding opportunities. We’ve updated our 2019-20 funding calendar with deadlines for nine internal funding programs throughout the year. On our faculty page, we also curate a list of external opportunities that support international activities.
Regional Engagement Teams support strategic engagement for collaboration within the context of a specific geographic region: Asia, Australia-Pacific, Europe, Latin-America and Caribbean, Middle East and Northern Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Faculty and staff advise and participate in partnership development, the implementation of programs and initiatives, and support the pursuit of funded research collaboration or academic cooperation.
The Global Engagement Institute is an annual program providing professional development for a cohort of faculty and staff interested in developing research, scholarship or academic programs with an international focus. For the 2019-20 academic year, expanding academic and research collaboration through the University Global Partnership Network is our focus.
NC State faculty are increasingly interacting with culturally diverse classrooms. Over 4,000 international students are currently enrolled at NC State from more than 100 different countries. Engaging such a broad range of perspectives and contexts in the classroom can create a number of challenges and opportunities for faculty. We’ve developed resources to support the teaching, research, and service goals of faculty by providing insight and practical tips for engaging diverse student populations.
The Global Partners database keeps track of the collaborative research, education and outreach pursued by NC State around the world. Users can explore the university’s connections with more than 130 other leading institutions worldwide, and faculty and staff can log in to manage their partnerships.
Our faculty, staff and students travel all over the globe. From export controls to international health insurance, there’s a lot to cover when considering international research and travel.
Faculty and administrators are encouraged to collaborate internationally to advance NC State’s goal of integrating global perspectives into the university’s academic and research mission. The Office of Global Engagement facilitates the process of global partnership development for all university-wide collaborations by establishing Memoranda of Understanding or agreements with institutions outside of the United States.
