Global Storyteller: James Ploss

James Ploss is a junior studying evolution ecology and conservation biology who recently traveled to Namibia as part of a study abroad program.

What has been the best part of your international experience?

The best part of doing research in Namibia was the culture. I learned from them and worked with them on current issues.

How has it changed you?

It has made me understand the importance of working with a diverse group of people and also the work that goes into a research study in wildlife and other areas.

How has your life changed after traveling?

I have traveled a lot before, so this trip allowed me to build on my travel experience.

What are your plans right now for the future?

I plan to finish at NC State and then find a job in conservation ecology or field biology, hopefully somewhere internationally – maybe even Africa.

Did you find anything difficult before or after traveling abroad?

The study abroad office and faculty made this trip very easy.

What are you most proud of today?

I’m most proud of being at NC State.
