Increasing Scholarly Impact Through Global Collaboration

In the dynamic environment of global higher education, there is an increasing need for individuals (faculty, researchers and staff) and institutions (constituent departments, academic programs and administrative support structures) to distinguish themselves amongst their peers both nationally and internationally. The growing significance of global university rankings has impacted the landscape, and at the micro-level, how prospective international students evaluate the benefits of enrollment. Moreover, sponsor organizations are seeking the best value for their investment and hold global rankings in high regard in terms of institutional eligibility to receive funded students. Solving complex global challenges also requires collaboration that transcends national borders and disciplinary boundaries.

The Office of Global Engagement recently examined scholarly publication and citation data to validate the assertion that suggests higher impact from global collaboration outputs relative to singular efforts or those that do not involve an international dimension. NC State Global is committed to supporting and promoting opportunities for faculty and staff to enhance their global scholarship and research.
