Nagoya University and NC State Renew Longstanding Partnership

NC State and Chancellor Woodson welcomed Dr. Seiichi Matsuo, President of Nagoya University, to campus in September for the 10th anniversary celebration of the NU Technology Partnership between the university and other local partners. Established as a nonprofit organization in October of 2007, NU Tech commemorated the milestone with a 10th anniversary Symposium on Biomedical Engineering and reception.

Dr. Yoshinobu Baba of Nagoya University and Dr. Frances Ligler of NC State and UNC served as keynote speakers for the Symposium on Biomedical Engineering held at Monteith Research Center.

Following the keynote speakers was a panel discussion focusing on the topic of “NC State and Nagoya University: Collaboration and Beyond.” Panelists Dr. Seiichi Matsuo, Dr. Bailian Li, Dr. Yoshinobu Baba, and Dr. Frances Ligler discussed the importance of continued research partnerships and collaboration between the two universities.

During the 10th anniversary reception in Park Alumni Center, Chancellor Woodson and Dr. Matsuo signed an Industry-University Collaboration Agreement between NC State and Nagoya University, followed by a Japanese traditional sake barrel breaking ceremony (Kagami-biraki) and a toast by Consul General of Japan in Atlanta, Mr. Takashi Shinozuka.

NC State Global offers funding for NC State faculty to enhance research collaboration and academic exchange with colleagues at Nagoya University. 

NC State also offers study abroad opportunities with Nagoya University.
