Nov. 7-10 Events for International Education Month

This week, NC State Global and the campus community are hosting an array of events to unify the university with international connections. Below are a few highlighted events for this week:

Challenges and Approaches to International Environmental Work with CNR Dean Mary Watzin

November 7 | 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm | Jordan Hall Addition – Room 1214
Come hear Dean Mary Watzin, Dean of the College of Natural Resources, speak on her experience in research on water quality in both the US and abroad.

Global Tea & Coffee

November 8 | 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm | Duke Energy Hall at Hunt Library
This annual event showcases various global cultures through tea, coffee and snacks. Participants can travel from table to table to sample food and drink while engaging with international individuals to learn about different countries around the world.

Global Trekking – Experience the World in Virtual Reality

November 9 | 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm | D.H. Hill Library – Fishbowl Forum
NC State Global and NCSU Libraries have teamed up to help students explore the world in virtual reality (VR). Several students who have studied abroad will present tours of the places they lived and took courses. The tours will be visualized with Google Earth VR, a software that allows immersive 3D interaction with global map data.

Building Bridges: Strengthening Leadership for Diverse Communities

November 10 | 9:00 am – 4:00 pm | Witherspoon Student Center 201
This workshop will allow you to gain self-awareness, stretch beyond your comfort zone, and gain new understanding. In this workshop, you will: celebrate similarities and differences, identify misinformation about other groups, identify and heal from internalized oppression, claim pride in your own group identities, gain empowerment by learning ways to challenge bigoted comments and actions. Registration is required.
