NC State welcomes international delegations to visit campus throughout the year to expand opportunities for mutual collaborations.
The College of Textiles is welcoming a delegation from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU) on October 12 led by President Wenxing Chen to build upon longstanding cooperation between the two institutions.
Located in Hangzhou, China, ZSTU is a multi-disciplinary university in Zhejiang Province. The predecessor of ZSTU, Sericulture Academy, is one of the earliest education institutes in China and was founded in 1897.
With a strong emphasis on textiles education, the school was named the Zhejiang Institute of Silk Textiles from 1964 until 2004 when it was renamed Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.
Academic collaboration through educational exchanges such as the 3+X Program with ZSTU has enhanced graduate student recruitment in the College of Textiles while providing a foundation for collaborative research and faculty exchange.
Going forward, ZSTU and NC State will develop an integrated academic program for students through the creation of a new dual degree that leverages complementary strengths between the universities.
