The 6th Biennial North Carolina Summit on United States – China Education is taking place on September 6, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Friday Institute at NC State University.
This year’s theme is “Community-Focused Partnerships: Harnessing Intercultural Competence for Prosperity.” Attendees will explore the intersection of government and politics, business and industry, and education and learning.
Panel discussions will highlight case studies that showcase community partnerships between U.S. and Chinese business and how government, education, and business work together to create these partnerships.
The summit was launched by the Friday Institute at NC State and other educational partners in 2008 when the North Carolina State Board of Education signed an agreement with Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education in China to increase collaboration.
Since that creation, NC State holds the summit every two years for education, government, and business leaders to witness how North Carolina has grown in Chinese language and cultural programs and to cultivate collaboration toward increased partnerships to meet the growing demand of Chinese language in our state.
Each summit is hosted by a rotating member of the original organizers; the 2018 summit is hosted by Go Global. Other organizers include the Friday Institute, the Confucius Institute, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and the North Carolina State Board of Education.
