Grateful for the Opportunity to Study Abroad in Prague
NC State Prague was one of the only study abroad programs to run for the Spring 2021 semester and welcomed 16 students from various majors. For the participants, this was the last and only option to study abroad before graduating. It was a special semester in many ways.
Conditions were constantly changing. A need for flexibility, adaptability, and resilience was necessary from the students, the instructors, and the staff. Despite those conditions, students had a unique study abroad experience and did some fantastic work. The student’s design work in Architecture, Illustration, Drawing, Industrial Design, Photography is on display on Behance, NC State Prague’s virtual gallery.
Prague’s spring semester officially ended on May 7. During their last week, students enjoyed a well-deserved Spring break. Some decided to travel to the Swiss Alps, others to the seaside in Croatia. One student stayed with a local artist on her organic farm as part of a WWOOFing agreement. The rest of the students decided to enjoy their free time in Prague, making the most of the newly reopened museums. All 16 students are now back home and some already graduated over the weekend.
Students made the most of their study abroad experience, keeping a positive spirit throughout. All participants returned home grateful for the opportunity to study abroad during those unprecedented times. NC State Prague will run a series where Prague students share their experience studying abroad in Prague during the pandemic. Meet Ellie Duquaine, a Biomedical and Health Sciences Engineering student, first to give her insights.
