Amy Conger
Bio
Dr. Amy Conger serves as Vice Provost for Global Engagement at NC State University. In this role, Conger leads the division to advance global learning, research, and outreach for the campus community. She is responsible for study abroad, international student and scholar services, global training initiatives, the NC State European Center in Prague, the North Carolina Japan Center, and intensive English programs.
Conger collaborates with NC State’s colleges and administrative units to develop strategic partnerships, provide infrastructure and support for global programs, and steward institutional agreements for academic and scientific cooperation outside the U.S. She represents NC State as an active member of the Association of International Education Administrators, the Fulbright National Screening Committee, the Institute for International Education, and the NAFSA (Association of International Educators) Trainer Corps.
Conger received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her Ph.D. in higher education and public policy from the University of Michigan. She is a Fulbright Alumna (Japan) and her academic interests include comparative higher education systems and the role of higher education in social change. She has taught and published in the areas of campus internationalization, engaged learning, and global STEM programs. Conger came to NC State in 2023 from the University of Michigan, where she held leadership roles in global engagement, education abroad, and health equity.
