International Travel

  • Border Search of Electronic Devices at Ports of Entry. The U.S. Department of State and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) bureau of the Department of Homeland Security officials may ask to inspect your electronic devices (including files, photos and/or social media accounts linked to that device). 
  • Export Controls. NC State complies with all federal export control policies. Check to see if your planned activities are subject to export control laws.
  • International students who plan to leave and re-enter the U.S. during their course of study at NC State should carefully review the immigration guidelines and travel resources provided by the Office of International Services. 
  • International visiting scholars and student interns on J-1 visas who plan to leave and re-enter the U.S. during their visit period at NC State should carefully review the immigration guidelines and travel resources provided by the Office of International Services. 
  • NC State International Travel Gateway. All students engaging in university-affiliated, non-credit international travel will be required to submit their itinerary to the International Travel Gateway.
  • NC State Travel Clinic provides personalized recommendations, medications and vaccinations based on your destination and itinerary from the Travel Clinic.
  • NC State Travel Center. The NC State Travel Center provides all the information you need to plan and conduct official university travel.
  • Travel Alerts & Warnings. The U. S. Department of State maintains a list of country-specific travel alerts and warnings. Stay informed about your travel destination.
