NC State Global Welcomes German Consulate for Campus Initiative
On Monday, August 28, NC State Global had the privilege of hosting Consul General Melanie Moltmann from the German Consulate General in Atlanta. The Consulate in Atlanta is the representative of the German government in the southeastern United States, covering Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Moltmann’s visit was in relation to NC State Global’s recent success in receiving Germany on Campus funding. This initiative, funded by the German Embassy in Washington D.C., is aimed at fostering connections between German missions and educational institutions across the country. Its goal is to support a wide range of programming that enables students to explore various facets of German business, culture, politics, and more.
In celebration of this initiative and as part of the Consulate’s ongoing engagement with colleges and universities in its district, Moltmann paid a visit to NC State and networked with faculty, staff, and students.
In a meeting with faculty and staff, Moltmann heard from colleagues from all across campus about the different ways they engage with Germany, and how they would like to engage further. Additionally, she spoke at a “Meet a Diplomat” session with both graduate and undergraduate students, during which she gave insight into different topics such as relocating to Germany and the responsibilities of a diplomat, to name a few.
NC State Global is excited to announce a series of upcoming Germany on Campus programs that will showcase speakers from various sectors, including representatives from our own campus, non-profit organizations, businesses, and the military. These events offer a unique opportunity for the NC State community to connect with German culture and expertise.
