NC State Global Celebrates International Education Week

The Office of Global Engagement is celebrating the 24th annual International Education Week (IEW) November 18-22, 2024.

At NC State, this week of events underscores our commitment to global learning while highlighting the benefits of international education and exchange. NC State’s global programs enable students to expand their knowledge of the world and deepen their cultural understanding, which are essential skills for leadership and career success.

To celebrate our Think and Do attitude, the Office of Global Engagement is hosting a series of events to recognize the university’s global connections. Some of the events include a Virtual NC State Prague Info Session, a Global Tea & Coffee gathering, a Global Film Series Screening,a Diplomat in Residence Event, and an Autumn Around the World Celebration. These events are open to all members of the NC State community and are supported by NC State student Global Ambassadors. “As a student Global Ambassador, I am glad we have access to opportunities like this where the student body can come together to teach and learn from one another,” said Macon Monday, an English Literature and Nonprofit Studies Major.

International Education Week also aligns with the annual release of the U.S. State Department’s Open Doors Report, the only long-standing, comprehensive information resource on international students and scholars in the United States and on U.S. students studying abroad for academic credit. The data for the 2023-2024 academic year will be released on November 18.  Last year, NC State ranked 14th in the nation for hosting international students on campus while also sending over 1,900 U.S. students on study abroad programs.

“NC State is committed to providing high-impact global learning opportunities to all, enhancing the ability of our students, faculty, and staff to incorporate new perspectives into their education, teaching and research” said Vice Provost for Global Engagement Amy Conger. “We leverage International Education Week to raise awareness of how to Think and Do Globally.”
