Partner Profile: Zhejiang Sci-Tech University
Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU) is a key provincial university with a wide range of academic and research across disciplines, including textiles, science, engineering, literature, economics, management, law, and education. Located in the city of Hangzhou within the Zhejiang Province, ZSTU boasts a long history of over 100 years and a beautiful campus of over 140 hectares. The university consists of 17 colleges and currently has nearly 30,000 full-time students, including more than 3,500 graduate students.
The predecessor of ZSTU, Sericulture Academy, is one of the earliest education institutes in China and was founded in 1897. With a strong emphasis on textiles education, the school was named the Zhejiang Institute of Silk Textiles from 1964 until 2004 when it was renamed Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. NC State’s Wilson College of Textiles is the focal point for the partnership that promotes academic exchanges, research collaboration and faculty engagement.
The Wilson College of Textiles established a 3+X program to recruit high quality Master’s students in their degree programs as well as formulated a graduate level dual degree program in Textile Engineering. Going forward, ZSTU and NC State will continue to develop new opportunities for students and researchers to leverage complementary strengths between the universities.
