Expanding Partnerships in Egypt
As NC State is forging new partnerships in the Middle East, a delegation recently visited The American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt to identify areas of synergy for program development, academic exchanges, and research collaboration. The NC State delegation included leadership in the Office of Global Engagement and NC State faculty from various disciplines.
Founded in 1919, the AUC is a leading English-language, American-accredited institution of higher education and center of intellectual, social and cultural life of the Arab world. Its community of students, parents, faculty and staff, trustees, alumni, and other sponsors represent more than 60 countries. The university offers English-language based academic programs in many fields, and offers students the opportunity to experience the rich culture of the Middle Eastern region.
During the visit, the group learned more about AUC’s academic offerings, research portfolio, and internationalization strategy so that NC State can promote student exchange as well as mechanisms to encourage faculty connections that lead to active collaboration.
Students enroll in courses on the New Cairo campus. The university’s modern, 260-acre New Cairo campus constitutes a visionary investment in the future of Cairo, Egypt, and the region — a state-of-the-art facility for advanced research, innovative teaching, lifelong learning, and civic engagement.
