International Students Camp at Falls Lake
The Office of International Services, in partnership with Outdoor Adventures, took 12 students to Falls Lake for an overnight camping trip in September.
Students disconnected from the stress of difficult classes, exams and research in order to reconnect with nature. While at Falls Lake, one of North Carolina’s state parks, the students participated in activities such as kayaking, hiking, and setting up a campfire.
“I enjoyed the campfire,” said Elisa Allard, a global luxury and management major. “It was fun to watch the flames while listening to some stories from our fellow campers. It was a group meeting that we all enjoyed.”
A big draw of the trip is the chance to connect and make friends with other students at NC State early in the fall semester.
“It always fascinates me how traveling can make absolute strangers trust and depend on each other,” said Amjad Al Auf, a mechanical engineering major. “For me, the best part of all trips is always the people.”
The Office of International Services offers many unique programs to foster cross-cultural exchange between international students and scholars, American students, NC State faculty and staff, and the community. Learn more about participating in an ongoing or upcoming program.
