Domestic Violence and Indigenous Women

October 9, 2018 | 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Central America has become one of the most dangerous regions in the world for women. Throughout history and to this day indigenous women here have been subjected to domestic violence, torture, and femicide with little efforts by the government at improving these conditions. This crisis has reached epidemic levels leading to mass migration of women and children to the United States.

This lecture intends to shed a light on a community that is often forgotten by sharing the regions history regarding treatment of indigenous women, the current state of the crises, and what can be done to bring an end to this violence.
