Middle East Film Festival: ‘Wadjda’

April 4, 2019 | 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Join the Middle East Studies Program for another incredible film in its Middle East Film Festival. This year’s theme is female directors.

Wadjda (2012)  is a Saudia Arabian film, written and directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour. It was the first feature film shot entirely in Saudi Arabia and the first feature-length film made by a female Saudi director. The film follows a 10 year old girl who enters her school’s Quran recitation competition in order to raise enough money to buy a green bicycle that she wants.

This film will feature and introduction by Dr. Akram Khater, a University Faculty Scholar, professor in the Department of History, and director of the Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies.

This film is free and open to the public.
