Founded in 1951 as the China Textile University, Donghua University (DHU) is located in the downtown area of Shanghai. DHU is one of the premier textile-focused universities in China within the administration of the Chinese Ministry of Education. Its major disciplines include: fashion design, textile engineering, international trade, material science, and information technology. It is a multi-disciplinary university with a wide range of degree programs across a vast field of disciplines including engineering, economics, management, literature and art, laws, science, and education.
Donghua University has 13 colleges and schools, offering 54 undergraduate programs, 59 master’s degree programs, 30 doctoral degree programs, and 5 postdoctoral research programs, among which are 6 state key disciplines and 7 Shanghai municipal key disciplines. There are more than 2,800 faculty and staff and over 30,000 enrolled students at DHU.
NC State’s partnership with DHU leverages the complementary academic and research strengths in the fields of textile engineering, textile chemistry and fashion design. Opportunities for student mobility include the semester study abroad program (Donghua Fashion Institute) as well as the 3+X Masters degree program.
