Our Move to Primrose Hall

The main unit of the Office of Global Engagement has officially moved into our new location in Primrose Hall, located on North Campus at 2 Watauga Club Drive.

A Brief History

Primrose Hall circa 1917, Special Collections Research Center at NCSU Libraries

Named after William Stuart Primrose, a primary founder of NC State, the building was built in 1896 to house the Department of Horticulture. Since its first use by the School of Agriculture, Primrose Hall has served as a warehouse, student supply store, headquarters for a military department, offices for student publications, and a geology department.

Primrose is said to have been the first person to propose the creation of what eventually became NC State. As a member of the Watauga Club of Raleigh, Primrose was a strong supporter of NC State and served for 20 years on the board of trustees as the first chairman of the board.
